Manslaughter charges in Belltown

First-degree manslaughter charges have been filed against two men suspected of a fatal beating that occurred on 3rd ave. in Belltown back in May. The victim, 51-year-old Vance St. Clair, was found semiconscious with head injuries on May 20. He died soon after on June 2. Witness accounts and video surveillance led police to determine that the two suspects chased, tackled and beat St. Clair.

17 year old Rory Koerber, and 23 year old Donald A. McKnight, are being held in King County Jail on $250,000 bail and will be arraigned in King County Superior Court Aug. 28.

Sad news. I've had it with all the violence.

Was walking near 1st and Bell last night as a transient, obviously highly intoxicated at 4pm; was gravely disturbing a single woman trying to get into her car.

Once in her car the man was jumping around in front, screaming and yelling like a madman with his shirt off.

Even before we had the time to cross the street to help, a black SUV slowly rolls up to the light, parks...AND BAM 4 undercover police bust out of the car and take this guy to the ground to handcuff him.

It was the first police presence I had seen in a while in our neighborhood. I'm certianly not a fanatic that thinks were in the Wild Wild West, though the was a good sign that things could be progressing.
