Historic status sought for 'Film Row' buildings

The Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board recently gave preliminary approval to historic status for the MGM Building at 2331 Second Ave.

Just to the south, the Spanish-Mediterranian themed building known originally as the Lorraine Hotel and more recently as the low-income William Tell Apartments, is up for review. It's also up for sale.

Even if both low-rise buildings are granted historic status, their preservation is by no means a sure thing. Look no further than the demolition of the Ballard Denny's, which also received historic landmark preservation status.
