During a 2005 shootout between an armed man and Seattle police outside of Belltown Billiards, a young woman was shot in the spine. She claims that the bullet which hit her was from a round shot by police. At the time the chief of police decided it could not be determined whether the victim was in fact hit by a police round but concluded that the officers' actions were necessary to prevent even more people from being hurt.
The victim Christin Kellner, who still carries the bullet in her spine since doctors advise that it is too risky to remove, has filed a $500,000 claim against the city of Seattle. Yikes.
