Out of town visitor beaten outside Belltown bar

Some crime news from over the weekend. Apparently a Microsoft employee visiting from North Dakota for a company conference was beaten early Sunday morning. Witnesses say victim Daniel Stoy was standing outside a Belltown bar on 1st ave. when a single punch caused the man to slam his head against the sidewalk. He was rushed to the hospital unconscious and has no recollection of the beating. The victim's father who is a doctor, says his 29-year-old son might have speech and memory problems for years.The police are still checking surveillance tapes to identify suspects.

It's really too bad how many beatings we've had over the last few months on 1st ave. I'd say a word to the wise would be to hop in a cab immediately after bar close to avoid any drunken confrontations.
