Back in March the city was encouraged by public utilities to get rid of those automatic public toilets since they were being used more for prostitution and drugs than as toilets. The toilets are located in various parks throughout the city including one in the waterfront near Pike Place Market.
Now it's official. The council has voted to end the highly expensive and poorly designed toilets immediately and the toilets themselves are expected to be shut down and removed around July 1.
Seattle Public Utilities is currently trying to work out agreements with other public agencies to make their restrooms available.
I guess it's peeing in the bushes for us until further notice.
